Slow Down & Reverse the Signs of Aging with These Tips

Blog

Many men and women have concerns about their skin beginning to look different as they age. Wrinkles and a loss of facial fullness can make a person look older. While this change is natural, most people prefer to put it off for as long as possible. Fortunately, there are steps you can take at home and in conjunction with your dermatologist, in order to keep your skin looking youthful. Here are three tips for slowing down and reversing the signs of aging:

1. Avoid sun damage.

Suntans are highly sought after, but the sun is the enemy of youthful skin. Ultraviolet rays cause skin damage that can show up in the form of dark spots of pigmentation and even wrinkles. Avoid the sun whenever possible by staying in the shade and wearing hats and protective clothing. When you do go outside, wear a broad-spectrum sunblock that protects against UVA and UVB rays. This is the best preventative step you can take for skin that looks as young as possible.

2. Use a retinoid.

Retinoids are topical creams derived from Vitamin A. When used correctly, retinoids cause the cells of your skin to replenish themselves at a faster rate. This can drastically reduce the appearance of wrinkles and keep new wrinkles from forming. Retinoids are a more effective form of over-the-counter retinol that you can find at the drug store. You need a prescription to get retinoids, and your dermatologist can provide it if you make an appointment to discuss your aging concerns.

3. Consider dermal fillers.

Wrinkles aren't the only visible sign of aging. As you age, you lose facial fat which can make your face look more gaunt. Dermal fillers can combat this loss of volume. Fillers are strategically injected into certain areas of your face. They stay put once injected, and they can last for several months until your body breaks them down. Ask your dermatologist about dermal fillers if you're looking for instant and lasting results. If you decide you don't like the fillers once they're injected, you can always have them removed using a second round of injections to reverse the procedure. It's a low-risk way to get dramatic results.

Your skin can look fantastic even as you get older. These tips will help you keep your skin healthy and beautiful. Allow a local  dermatologist to help you realize your skincare goals for long-lasting radiant skin.

Staying in Great Health Requires Exercise

My parents taught me healthy eating habits and I played outside a lot as a kid. Once I was old enough to work, I got a job as a waiter at a restaurant and kept waiting tables throughout high school and college. After college, I got my very first desk job, and my health started declining. I soon realized that even though I had never stepped foot in a gym, I was living a sedentary lifestyle for the first time in my life. I wasn't getting exercise playing outside or running around at work, so I decided to commit to going to the gym. My health began to improve and I now greatly enjoy bodybuilding. I know many other people are in ill health and can't figure out why, so I decided to start a blog to share my health tips and inspire everyone improve their health!
