3 Reasons To See A Physical Therapist

Health & Medical Blog

Physical therapy has so many benefits. There are a good deal of people who would really benefit from physical therapy, but don't understand the many advantages and reasons to see a physical therapist. Here are some of the main reasons to go see a physical therapist.

1. Recent Surgery

If you have recently had surgery, especially on a joint or on a major body party, you will require a good deal of healing before you are ready to get back to your normal routine. The concern is that many times you lose some of the mobility in your joints, and your muscles lose their strength while you heal. This means that if you try to get back to normal right after the injury heals, you could be in trouble. You could reinjure yourself, cause a different injury, or prolong the healing process.

Ideally you should meet with a physical therapist right after you get the surgery. They will incrementally let you know what kind of exercise you can do to regain your strength and help you get back to normal in a safe way. Ask your surgeon about physical therapy before the surgery so that you are prepared.

2. You Injured Yourself

If you have injured yourself, even something seemingly small like a stress fracture, you should consider seeing a physical therapist. A physical therapist will be the best way to get back on track with your normal activities. If you simply try to let the injury heal on it's own it could take a long time, or you could lose mobility in the area. Instead, you should consider going to a physical therapist. They will have you do exercises that increase the strength in the surrounding muscles, increase blood flow to the area, and get your body as healthy as possible for optimal healing.

3. You Want To Increase Your Game

If you play a sport, or are trying to increase your physical ability, you should consider meeting with a physical therapist. Much like a personal trainer, they can give you advice on how to increase your abilities, however they will add additional help in showing you how to do it safely for your body.

In addition, if you are playing sports a lot, or are exercising a serious amount, a physical therapist can help prevent injuries, heal sore muscles and keep you healthy.

As you can see there are many reasons to see a physical therapist

Staying in Great Health Requires Exercise

My parents taught me healthy eating habits and I played outside a lot as a kid. Once I was old enough to work, I got a job as a waiter at a restaurant and kept waiting tables throughout high school and college. After college, I got my very first desk job, and my health started declining. I soon realized that even though I had never stepped foot in a gym, I was living a sedentary lifestyle for the first time in my life. I wasn't getting exercise playing outside or running around at work, so I decided to commit to going to the gym. My health began to improve and I now greatly enjoy bodybuilding. I know many other people are in ill health and can't figure out why, so I decided to start a blog to share my health tips and inspire everyone improve their health!
