Are You Looking For A Doctor?

Health & Medical Blog

How long has it been since you've seen a doctor? Perhaps you're the lucky person who has always felt great, probably because you've taken good care of your body. Or, you might be counting the blessings of just coming from what many might call good genes. Have things changed recently? Perhaps, you've noticed that you tire easily, or maybe you have begun to have frequent headaches or stomach aches. Whatever the reason that you are wanting medical care, here are some ideas that might help you.

A Primary Care Physician - If you have mentioned the fact that you are looking for a primary care physician to friends and extended family members, you have more than likely been inundated with suggestions that you go to the doctor of whomever you are speaking with. Instead of helping, getting all of those recommendations might actually confuse you. After all, which one will you select?

Consider doing your own research. For example, select three or four names from those that have been given to you and narrow the list down to the doctors that are closest to where you live. If you are married with children, find out, too, if the doctor treats all family members. Wouldn't it be great to have just one doctor for your entire family?

Things To Look For - When you visit the offices of those doctors on your list, think about the fact that you or your family members will also be connecting with the people in the doctor's front office. Is the receptionist friendly, and does he or she make you feel like your time is important?

Does the doctor have a physician's assistant? Are you okay with seeing the PA instead of the doctor? You might not have the answer to that question until you actually get to meet him or her. If you know that you won't actually get to meet the doctor or the physician's assistant in person, at least get some background on each one that is being considered.

Of course, if you are very anxious to be seen by a primary care physician because you have an emergency, think of going to a walk-in clinic where you don't have to make an appointment ahead of time. The doctor at the walk-in health clinic may end up being your primary care physician, or at least he or she will be able to give you recommendations of colleagues whom he or she trusts.

Staying in Great Health Requires Exercise

My parents taught me healthy eating habits and I played outside a lot as a kid. Once I was old enough to work, I got a job as a waiter at a restaurant and kept waiting tables throughout high school and college. After college, I got my very first desk job, and my health started declining. I soon realized that even though I had never stepped foot in a gym, I was living a sedentary lifestyle for the first time in my life. I wasn't getting exercise playing outside or running around at work, so I decided to commit to going to the gym. My health began to improve and I now greatly enjoy bodybuilding. I know many other people are in ill health and can't figure out why, so I decided to start a blog to share my health tips and inspire everyone improve their health!
