How Do I Become a BLS Trainer?

Health & Medical Blog

If you are looking for a fulfilling and rewarding career, you may want to look into becoming a certified basic life support (BLS) trainer. Certified BLS teachers have the capacity to teach individuals, employees, and even entire companies the skills necessary to save someone's life. There are few careers out there that give individuals the skills, confidence, and know-how to save someone's life. With just a little bit of training, you could become the trainer of real-life heroes.

To become certified as a basic life support trainer, you will need to go through a few essential steps:

Course work

As an instructor of a course, you will need to know the information inside and out. There are classes that you can take to help you understand the coursework which can be accessed both in-person and online. It is wise to take several courses from different instructors both to help you understand the material, all while allowing you to see how the material is presented by different people. Your course work will be more in-depth than the classes you will teach so that you have ample information and understanding to rely on.

Presentation

With your coursework, you will learn how to present BLS information in a way that will help your students to learn. You will need to learn how to be informative and engaging, while still remaining professional as an instructor. In order to become a certified trainer, you will need to present the entire class to your instructor. Some instructors will require that you record yourself and upload a video, while others will pass off your presentation of the material in person.

Hands-On Demonstration

While the information in a BLS course is vital, the hands-on section of the course is what ultimately saves lives. As the instructor, you will need to help people to feel comfortable practicing on mannequins so that they will be confident with their skills should an emergency arise. You will need to know how to help people with their hands-on technique so that they can perform life-saving maneuvers in a careful and safe way.

Certification

Once you have taken the courses required, presented your own course, and demonstrated hands-on maneuvers to a licensed training professional, you will likely achieve your own certification. This will allow you to work as a BLS trainer -- congrats!

In conclusion, you could make money teaching people the basics of CPR and other life-saving techniques. This information could help them to someday save the life of someone in their home, family, or workplace. Talk to BLS trainers to learn more about their program.

Staying in Great Health Requires Exercise

My parents taught me healthy eating habits and I played outside a lot as a kid. Once I was old enough to work, I got a job as a waiter at a restaurant and kept waiting tables throughout high school and college. After college, I got my very first desk job, and my health started declining. I soon realized that even though I had never stepped foot in a gym, I was living a sedentary lifestyle for the first time in my life. I wasn't getting exercise playing outside or running around at work, so I decided to commit to going to the gym. My health began to improve and I now greatly enjoy bodybuilding. I know many other people are in ill health and can't figure out why, so I decided to start a blog to share my health tips and inspire everyone improve their health!
